(no subject)
I've heard it said that eyes, were you to pluck them out,
Would have the same sort of texture as peeled grapes in your hands.
I, for one, believe this description to be erroneous; not through personal, hands-on knowledge
(if you would be so kind as to ignore the pun; it was terrible,
and I apologize for any scarring that its unsightliness may have inflicted upon your person)
But rather because that description doesn't quite feel right -
After all, no one mourns peeled grapes when they are lost.
To say nothing of the fact that my memories are already recorded using faulty equipment to begin with;
I would like to think that a large part of their creation is not entrusted to something
That would feel so mundane in the palms of one's hands.
Call me ridiculous if you like; perhaps I just happen to dislike the fact that
One wouldn't hold a baby bird in one's hands and comment on how it feels like a fuzzy mass full of twigs ripe for the snapping
(unless, of course, one has problems with empathy; my apologies, also, to the sociopaths)
And yet we think nothing of comparing eyes to something clearly intended for crushing.
(However,
I do still wonder about exactly how this was found out to begin with;
I also wonder if they resisted the temptation to crush them between their hands, simply to see if it would all squish the same,
Or if playtime was had in some lab for hours after the discovery.
As much as I realize that it would be, through my own admission, toying with that bit of precious something that showed someone the world,
I can't say that the latter
doesn't sound morbidly fun.)
